Cross-site authentication via forged passkey origins
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Origin validation failure in AliasVault's extension before 0.29.4 allows remote attackers to obtain cross-site passkey assertions. Its WebAuthn bridge accepts webpage-supplied origin and relying-party identifiers without binding them to the actual requesting website. Exploitation requires a malicious page, an installed and unlocked extension configured as a passkey provider, a stored passkey for the impersonated site, and manual prompt approval; the result is an assertion for that site, not disclosure of the vault or master password.
