Arbitrary command execution via Git shell alias
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
OS command injection in sonirico mcp-shell before 0.6.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the shell_exec MCP tool. The validator allowlists /usr/bin/git but fails to reject ! or Git -c alias overrides, causing Git to launch the supplied alias through sh. Any caller with MCP connectivity can reach the default Linux container without additional authentication and gains mcpuser-level read, write, and process-control capabilities.
