Unauthenticated administrator access via hardcoded default password
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Hard-coded credentials in Pheditor 2.0.1 through 2.0.5 allow remote attackers to gain administrator access using the default password. The PASSWORD constant in pheditor.php stores the unsalted SHA-512 hash of admin, while login permits it indefinitely and only displays a warning. Default-configured deployments expose file editing, upload, and terminal functions, enabling arbitrary file reads and writes and command execution as the web server user.
