Authenticated code execution via unescaped LIKE pattern
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Code injection in Yamcs before 5.12.8 and 5.13.0 through 5.13.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands. LikeExpression.fillCode_getValueReturn inserts the supplied LIKE pattern unescaped into Java source that Expression.getCompiledExpression sends to Janino's SimpleCompiler.cook. ReadTables, ReadEvents, ReadActivities, or ControlArchiving access is sufficient; a quote breaks the generated string literal and injected Java runs as the Yamcs server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 5.12.8
