Application crash via crafted 8BIM profile
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Use-after-free in ImageMagick 6 before 6.9.13-51 and ImageMagick 7 before 7.1.2-26 allows local users to crash image identification. Get8BIMProperty mishandles the lifetime of an 8BIM resource-name pointer before ConvertMacRomanToUTF8 consumes it; the patch preserves the pointer state and skips conversion when no resource exists. A user or application must identify attacker-supplied image content with the triggering format string, and the documented consequence is a process crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
