Code execution via opaque locator normalization collision
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Origin validation failure in pnpm before 10.34.2 and 11.0.0 through 11.5.2 allows remote attackers to execute lifecycle scripts. The generic peer-suffix normalizer strips parenthesized text from opaque git, URL, tarball, file, and directory locators before allowBuilds compares identities, so distinct sources collide. Exploitation requires a user or CI job to install an attacker-controlled dependency after approving the colliding source, and the resulting lifecycle code runs with that process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
