Import ownership tampering via unconditional creator reassignment
Published Jul 10, 2026 · Updated Jul 10, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Snipe-IT before 8.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite an import file's ownership metadata. ItemImportRequest::import unconditionally assigns the current authenticated user's ID to Import.created_by when it processes the file instead of preserving the recorded creator. Exploitation requires CSV import capability, a valid API key, and execution of the import workflow; the demonstrated consequence is limited to ownership metadata modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
