Queue disruption via unsanitized fax options
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Option injection in OpenPrinting CUPS 2.4.19 and earlier allows local users to disrupt fax queues via crafted job attributes. The option builder in scheduler/job.c copies destination-uri and pre-dial-string into phone and faxPrefix without removing control characters before passing them to filters. Exploitation requires job-submission permission and a configured fax queue; the maintainer limits the impact to possible queue disablement, with code execution dependent on a separate optional filter.
