CVE-2026-55406

Memory disclosure via unsound OwnedView lifetime promotion

Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026

Use-after-free in Anthropic buffa before 0.7.0 allows local users to disclose freed heap contents through dangling view references. OwnedView::decode promotes its backing slice to a synthetic static lifetime, while Deref exposes borrowed fields without tying their lifetime to the handle. Exploitation requires application code to retain a field reference after dropping OwnedView, leaving a dangling pointer that permits freed-memory disclosure and memory corruption.
