Local privilege escalation via snoop-filter input validation
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Memory safety flaw in Google Android 16, 16-qpr2, and 17 allows local users to escalate privileges through Bluetooth snoop logging. FilterCapturedPacket in snoop_logger.cc processes captured ACL packets in filtered logging mode without sufficient input validation, making its packet handling memory-unsafe. The affected path handles ACL packets only in filtered snoop logging mode; exploitation requires no user interaction or additional execution privileges.
