Admin-level code execution via evaluated survey templates
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Template injection in MsgByte Tianji before 1.31.29 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via survey feed templates. The formatString() utility in src/server/utils/template.ts compiles survey and monitor templates with lodash template() while leaving its default JavaScript evaluation pattern enabled. Storing a malicious template requires workspace administrator access; public survey submission triggers its execution in the Node.js process, enabling command execution, secret disclosure, and data modification.
