Stored XSS via quoted greater-than sanitizer bypass
Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026
Stored XSS in givanz Vvveb 1.0.8.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in visitors' browsers via crafted post content. The sanitizeHTML() event-handler regex treats a greater-than character inside a quoted attribute as the tag end, leaving an onerror attribute intact when stored content is rendered. An author or contributor account can plant the content; execution requires a visitor or administrator to view the post, exposing that browser's page and session context.
