CVE-2026-55079Network attack vector

Authenticated service termination via unbounded file-size allocation

Published Jul 7, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Memory exhaustion in affected Coder releases allows remote authenticated users to terminate coderd via a crafted provisioner file upload. The NewDataBuilder function in provisionersdk/proto/dataupload.go allocates a byte slice from the DataUpload FileSize field without enforcing an upper bound. Reachability requires authentication to the provisioner daemon serve endpoint; one roughly 50-byte message declaring an enormous size causes an unrecoverable Go out-of-memory abort across the deployment.
