OS command execution via newline package injection
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Command injection in MCP-for-Stata before 1.19.0 allows local users to execute OS commands through ado_package_install. SSC_Install.install interpolates the package argument into a multiline Stata command and passes it verbatim to pexpect.sendline without allowlisting, newline rejection, or quoting. The tool is enabled by the default all profile, and an injected shell escape runs with the account privileges of the Stata-MCP server.
