Administrator credential recovery via fast SHA-512 hashing
Published Jun 26, 2026 · Updated Jun 26, 2026
Weak password hashing in Kestra before 1.3.24 allows attackers with PostgreSQL read access to recover BasicAuth credentials offline. AuthUtils.encodePassword concatenates the stored salt and password, hashes them once with fast general-purpose SHA-512, and persists the digest in the settings table without a password-KDF work factor. Database read access is required; a recovered administrator password grants control of Kestra resources and, in documented Kubernetes deployments, access to namespace secrets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
