File access via unvalidated hook filename

Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026

Path traversal in uniget CLI before 0.27.6 allows local users to read or modify files through a crafted hook filename. The hooks edit command in cmd/uniget/hooks.go joins an unvalidated filename to the selected hooks directory and passes the escaped path to the configured editor. Exploitation requires local command access, and file access is limited to the privileges of the uniget process account.
