Application crash via miscomputed sample-count coordinate
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds write in affected OpenEXR releases allows local users to crash applications through the public DeepImage API. SampleCountChannel::set derives Y from dataWindow.min.x rather than min.y, then writes through an unchecked index before _numSamples. Reachability requires a consuming application to call the row setter when the image window has unequal X and Y origins; standard EXR loading is not confirmed to reach it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
