Code execution via malformed ICC profile
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Imaging Component allows attackers to execute code locally through a crafted ICC color profile. Mscms.dll parses attacker-controlled ICC profile fields without adequate validation, allowing a write past the end of an allocated heap buffer. Execution requires user interaction with content that invokes the color-management library, and resulting code runs in the context of the current process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
