Authenticated arbitrary file read via subtitle traversal
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Path traversal in FileBrowser Quantum before 1.4.3-beta allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary text files through the subtitle API. In subtitlesHandler, raw path reaches idx.GetRealPath without SanitizeUserPath, while raw name is joined to parentDir without removing directory components. Any authenticated account can escape its storage scope and retrieve UTF-8 text files under 50 MB that the server process can read.
