Subscriber privilege escalation via unchecked MCP tools
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Missing authorization in Royal MCP 1.4.25 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to invoke MCP tools beyond their WordPress role. The MCP dispatcher authenticates OAuth sessions but fails to enforce each tool's required WordPress capability before calling content, user, term, comment, and integration handlers. Subscriber-level credentials are sufficient to perform unauthorized reads and changes to site data through affected tools.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
