Command execution via untrusted template re-parsing
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Server-side template injection in OSCAL Compass Compliance-trestle before 3.12.4 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.3 allows attackers to run OS commands. MDCleanInclude.parse and MDSectionInclude.parse pass untrusted Markdown text to Jinja2 Parser.parse as template source in a non-sandboxed environment, permitting Python object traversal. Exploitation requires a user or automated pipeline to render attacker-controlled Markdown, SSP, or YAML content, and commands run with the Trestle process privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
