Remote code execution via pull-request-controlled pickle deserialization
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Deserialization of untrusted data in NetBox Device Type Library allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a malicious pull request. The read_pickle_data function in tests/pickle_operations.py passes pull-request-controlled known-modules.pickle or known-racks.pickle content to pickle.load, invoking attacker-defined object reduction behavior. Execution requires GitHub Actions or a maintainer to run pytest after USE_LOCAL_KNOWN_SLUGS is enabled, exposing resources reachable from that runner or process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
