Authenticated code execution via restore path traversal
Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026
Path traversal in FreePBX Backup before 16.0.72 or 17.0.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through backup restore. The restore functionality insufficiently sanitizes paths in supplied backup content, allowing malicious PHP files to be written into the web root. A known account with sufficient restore access or write access to backup files is required; code runs as the FreePBX service user.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
