Application crash via unchecked SSH field lengths
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Memory exhaustion in ConnectBot cbssh before 0.3.1 allows remote attackers to crash client applications via malformed SSH packets. Its Kaitai byte-string parser allocates from untrusted inner lengths before checking available bytes, while unchecked element counts trigger excessive repeated parsing. A client must connect to a malicious or compromised SSH server without any authentication requirement; the additional agent-message path requires agent forwarding, and no confidentiality or integrity impact is demonstrated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
