Admin account takeover via unescaped v-html rendering
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Stored XSS in SkillTree before 4.4.2 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser through crafted account names. Registration stores unsanitized name fields, and HighlightedValue.vue passes them unchanged to Vue's v-html directive, which assigns them to innerHTML. The attacker needs no account because self-registration is available, but execution occurs when an administrator routinely opens the affected Quiz Runs page.
