Authenticated code execution via unchecked plugin installation
Published Apr 23, 2026 · Updated Apr 23, 2026
Missing authorization in ExactMetrics 9.1.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code through arbitrary plugin installation. The reports page exposes an onboarding key that yields the sole token accepted by exactmetrics_connect_process, which lacks capability and nonce checks and installs a ZIP from its file parameter. Editor-level access with exactmetrics_view_dashboard is required; a malicious plugin can execute PHP with the WordPress server's privileges.
