Unauthorized content read via clipboard copy IDOR
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Authorization bypass in django CMS before 5.0.8 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted plugin content via copy_plugins. In cms/admin/placeholderadmin.py, _copy_plugin_to_clipboard and _copy_placeholder_to_clipboard accept attacker-supplied source IDs but apply has_copy_plugins_permission and check_source only to the requester's clipboard, never to the source placeholder. Exploitation requires CMS_PERMISSION=True and a staff account with the global add permission for the relevant plugin type; the disclosed data is limited to plugin fields such as text, link names, and URLs.
