DOM XSS via recreated external script elements
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026
DOM-based XSS in the SunEditor Embed plugin before 3.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted embed HTML. The plugin parses raw embed HTML, recreates a script element from an attacker-controlled src after a valid iframe, and appends it to the live DOM. Exploitation requires the Embed plugin, permission to submit embed HTML, and another user to open or render unsanitized content, exposing page data and victim-authorized actions.
