Heap-data disclosure via partial TIFF tile sizing
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Information disclosure in OpenSlide before 4.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to read heap data via crafted TIFF slides. The indirect TIFF tile path requests a full-height destination for a partial bottom tile row, causing openslide_read_region() to return uninitialized heap bytes as pixels. Exploitation requires libtiff 4.7.1 and a non-NDPI TIFF-based slide, while transparency handling and recompression determine whether the leaked bytes remain recoverable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
