CVE-2026-54512Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary class instantiation via generic type smuggling

Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026

Polymorphic deserialization in FasterXML jackson-databind allows remote attackers to instantiate denied classes through crafted type IDs. The _resolveAndValidateGeneric() method checks only a generic container's raw class against the configured PTV, then resolves nested type arguments without validating them. Exploitation requires polymorphic typing, attacker-controlled JSON type identifiers, and a suitable class on the application classpath; resulting property injection enables code execution only when that class has exploitable side effects.
