CSRF bypass via persistent unauthenticated token exemption
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
CSRF bypass in Speakr before 0.8.21-alpha allows remote attackers to alter account and administrative settings via a false API token. The csrf_exempt_for_api_tokens hook permanently adds a selected view to Flask-WTF's process-global exemption set because token authentication accepts any present query token without validation. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled content on a sibling subdomain and a victim session under the documented cookie conditions; it can change profile data, grant administrative status, or set a local password on an SSO-only account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
