Message corruption via unbounded length accumulation
Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026
Length-header parsing in Faye websocket-driver-node before 0.7.5 allows remote attackers to corrupt draft-75/76 messages. draft75.js accumulates each high-bit-set length byte into an unbounded JavaScript number, which loses integer precision before the payload is parsed. Exploitation requires a server that accepts obsolete draft-75 or draft-76 connections; the demonstrated consequence is incorrect parsing of the following payload.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
