Service interruption via unsanitized member-search regex
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Regular expression denial of service in Habitica 4.172.1 through 5.48.1 allows remote authenticated users to halt Node.js processes. The /api/v3/groups/:groupId/members route passes an unsanitized query parameter to regular-expression matching, permitting computationally exhausting patterns. Access requires a valid account and group-member search reachability; successful requests degrade application performance or stop the service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
