CVE-2026-54448Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Scanner crash via unbounded Helm archive read

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Denial of service in Aqua Security Trivy before 0.71.0 allows attackers to crash the scanner with a crafted Helm chart archive. The Helm chart parser's custom tar unpacker passes each decompressed entry to io.ReadAll without a per-entry or total size limit, so a small .tgz file expands into gigabytes of memory. Exploitation requires the archive to enter a path scanned for misconfigurations; memory exhaustion kills Trivy and can disrupt other processes on the same host, without affecting confidentiality or integrity.
