Unauthorized sharing-group takeover via user-supplied identifier
Published Jun 12, 2026 · Updated Jun 12, 2026
Mass assignment in MISP before 2.5.40 allows remote authenticated users to take over sharing groups through the creation endpoint. The add action in SharingGroupsController.php passes a user-supplied id into CakePHP save data, so create() followed by save() updates that existing record instead of creating a new one. Permission to add sharing groups is required; the update bypasses normal edit access controls and can alter groups the user cannot otherwise access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
