Parsing crash via unchecked Tiano bit lengths
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Stack out-of-bounds write in UEFI Firmware Parser before 1.14 allows attackers to crash the parsing process via crafted firmware. MakeTable reads attacker-controlled bit lengths without enforcing the 0-through-16 limit, causing writes beyond Count[17] and related decode tables. Processing a malicious Tiano or EFI compressed section reaches the flaw; code execution remains dependent on build and runtime details.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
