Authenticated service degradation via unbounded preview filters
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Denial of service in Wagtail before 7.0.8, 7.1.0 through 7.3.2, and 7.4.0 through 7.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to degrade service. The admin image preview endpoint accepts attacker-controlled filter specifications without restricting operations, causing expensive image rendition processing. Access to Wagtail admin is required; ordinary site visitors cannot reach the condition, and the documented consequence is service degradation rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
