CVE-2026-54179Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unvalidated image data URI

Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

Stored XSS in Backpack CRUD 6.0.0 through 6.8.13 and 7.0.0 through 7.0.37 allows remote authenticated users to run script via image fields. SingleBase64Image::uploadFiles and uploadRepeatableFiles accept any data:image prefix, decode the unchecked payload, and write it while FileNameGenerator derives no extension from the data URI. Script execution requires administrator access, an image field using withFiles(), permissive content serving, and a user who opens the stored file.
