CVE-2026-54060Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via unchecked font bitmap allocation

Published Jul 6, 2026 · Updated Jul 6, 2026

Excessive allocation in Pillow before 12.3.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted BDF or PCF font. FontFile.compile() sums attacker-controlled glyph dimensions into one bitmap and calls Image.new() without the decompression-bomb check used for ordinary images. Exploitation requires an application to convert or save the font; the resulting allocation can exhaust memory and terminate that process.
