Crash via unbounded FC-SWILS zone-object recursion
Published Apr 30, 2026 · Updated Apr 30, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.14 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.4 allows attackers to crash the application. dissect_swils_zone_obj recursively parses nested FC-SWILS zone-set members without enforcing a dissection-depth limit, exhausting the process stack. A malformed capture must be opened, or a malformed packet must be observed on the wire; TShark additionally requires protocol-tree output.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.4.0 <4.4.15
- Affected versionversion=4.6.0 <4.6.5
