Authenticated 2FA takeover via unchecked re-enrollment
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Authentication bypass in LibreChat before 0.8.4-rc1 allows remote authenticated users to take over an account's 2FA enrollment. The enable2FA controller overwrites the stored TOTP secret and backup codes and clears twoFactorEnabled without checking the existing 2FA state or verifying an OTP. A valid session token and an account with active 2FA are required; exploitation replaces the victim's factor, invalidates recovery codes, and locks the victim out until administrative recovery.
