Cross-user message deletion via unscoped MongoDB filter
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Missing authorization in LibreChat before 0.8.4-rc1 allows remote authenticated users to permanently delete other users' messages. The DELETE route validates ownership only of conversationId, then deleteMessages passes an attacker-selected messageId alone to Message.deleteMany. Exploitation requires a normal account, an owned conversation ID, and a victim message ID; the deletion is irreversible.
