Stored XSS via unescaped image alt text
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Stored XSS in LibreChat before 0.8.4-rc1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when a victim opens a shared artifact. The generateMarkdownHtml image renderer falls through to marked's default renderer, which places raw double quotes from image alt text in an HTML attribute before assigning the output to the preview iframe's innerHTML. A regular account must import a crafted markdown artifact and publish its share link; opening that link executes the injected handler in the visitor's browser and can redirect the LibreChat tab.
