Restricted file metadata disclosure via unchecked knowledge ID
Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026
Broken object authorization in Open WebUI before 0.9.6 allows remote authenticated users to enumerate restricted knowledge-base file metadata. The no-attached-knowledge branch of search_knowledge_files passes an attacker-supplied knowledge_id to Knowledges.search_files_by_id without checking ownership or AccessGrants read permission. Exploitation requires a valid account, a known target ID, native function calling, enabled builtin knowledge tools, and a selected model with no attached knowledge bases.
