Forced model execution via cross-origin postMessage handling
Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026
Origin validation error in Open WebUI before 0.9.6 allows remote attackers to force model or tool actions through an authenticated browser. The Chat.svelte window message listener accepts cross-origin input:prompt and action:submit events, writes attacker text into the prompt, and invokes submitPrompt(). A victim must be signed in and interact with an attacker-controlled page, after which requests run with the victim's model and tool privileges.
