CVE-2026-53877Network attack vector

Heap disclosure and crash via oversized buffer length

Published Jul 7, 2026 · Updated Jul 7, 2026

Heap buffer over-read in Django 5.2 before 5.2.16 and 6.0 before 6.0.7 allows attackers to disclose heap memory or crash a process. GDALRaster.init uses sys.getsizeof() rather than len() for a bytes-backed raster, passing the PyBytesObject wrapper size to GDAL and making vsi_buffer read about 32 bytes past the allocation. Reachability requires an application to construct GDALRaster from attacker-controlled raster bytes and access vsi_buffer; only GDAL virtual-filesystem rasters are affected.
