CVE-2026-53870

Local data disclosure via world-readable store files

Published Jun 17, 2026 · Updated Jun 17, 2026

Incorrect file permissions in Nous Research Hermes Agent before 0.16.0 allow local users to read conversation data and HMAC secrets. ResponseStore creates response_store.db under a permissive umask without enforcing owner-only mode, while webhook subscription saves likewise leave webhook_subscriptions.json at 0o644. A local account with filesystem access to the owning user's Hermes home is required, and the reported consequence is disclosure rather than modification or service interruption.
