Privilege escalation via owner-scoped hook authority
Published Jun 11, 2026 · Updated Jun 11, 2026
Privilege escalation in OpenClaw before 2026.5.20 allows remote authenticated users to invoke owner-only MCP tools through /hooks/agent. Hook ingress passes a hook-triggered bundled CLI runtime owner-scoped MCP loopback authority instead of the restricted scope assigned to hook automation. Reachability requires enabled hooks, a valid hook token, a reachable endpoint, and a selectable bundled CLI backend; exposed tools determine the privileged actions, including persistent cron-state changes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
