Path restriction bypass in rrsync in Rsync Project rsync before 3.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or write out-of-tree files. rrsync resolves each client-supplied path with realpath() but later executes rsync against the original name, allowing a path component to be replaced with an escaping symlink between validation and use. Exposure requires an SSH forced-command account configured with rrsync; allowed --copy-unsafe-links, -D, and --log-file options also permit out-of-tree reads, special-file creation, or symlink-following writes.
