Crash, hang, and disclosure via unchecked FILEINFO offsets
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in the GStreamer RealMedia demuxer on affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases allow attackers to crash applications. The FILEINFO parser calls re_skip_pascal_string() for untrusted name-value pairs without keeping offsets inside the mapped buffer, while an unchecked element count can keep the parsing loop running indefinitely. Processing a crafted RealMedia file requires user interaction and can crash or hang the consuming application or expose limited adjacent memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
